THE CONFLICT BETWEEN HARRY POTTER & VOLDEMORT
J.K Rowling has explained her love for Macbeth many times. Throughout her series of books there is a constant conflict between Harry Potter and Voldemort, why would someone want to kill a seven month old baby without a reason? When killing Harry’s parents because he knew they were more powerful than him. By failing to kill Harry at 7 months old, he knew that he would turn out more powerful than him. “The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches… born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies… and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not… and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives… the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies…” The parallels between Macbeth and the conflict between Harry and Voldemort are evident as both Macbeth and Voldemort were thirsty for powder, leading them to eliminate any barrier standing between them and achieving that power. |
